Down goes Satan. Down goes Satan

Satan was sitting in his favorite chair, cigar in one hand and a drink in another, when one of his minions walked in.  The minion saw how relaxed Satan was and the huge smile on his face.  “Why are you so happy today he asked?”

“It’s Christmas,” Satan answered.

Puzzled, the minion said, Christmas? “The day Jesus was born, The only son of your arch enemy?”

“That’s right.  Don’t you see all the humans and how happy they are, how they are celebrating and reveling in the moment?”

Now, even more puzzled, the minion remarked, “isn’t that the opposite of what we want?”

Of course, it is, but you don’t see what I see; for all the happiness out there, there is also sadness, those that are lonely, dealing with health and financial issues.  They look around them and see all the joy and ask why? Why can’t that be me? This is the time of year when they are at their weakest, and that is when I pounce—whispering in their ear.  Where is your God now? Doesn’t he care about you? Has he forsaken you?  Maybe it’s time you think about forsaking him. Maybe it’s time you give in to temptation and do whatever it is you have to do to find your happiness.  Who cares if it negatively impacts others? It’s you who are the most important.  Yep, this is the best time of year for me, my business is booming with converts”.

“I see, boss, an excellent game plan indeed.”

“Want to watch me in action? I was about o go whisper in the ear of this guy who is all alone and sad, he just needs a push, and I’ve got him.”

“Let’s go!” said the minion excited to see his boss in action.

Satan and minion walked into the room of the unsuspecting man who was sitting all alone watching television.  He appeared to be crying,

“This is going to be easier than I thought; he’s sitting there crying. I’ve got him”

Satan snuck up behind the man and whispered in his ear. “All alone? Sitting here crying why? I mean you have done so much for so many, yet here you sit on Christmas eve, no one to exchange gifts with, no one to talk and laugh with, no one to hug and kiss.  That doesn’t seem fair now, does it? Look at all the happy faces around you. They don’t deserve happiness any more than you now, do they.  Where’s your God at now?  What is he doing to help you?  I’ll tell you what.  Nothing, he’s done nothing! He only wants your praise and adulation, to put him on a pedestal.  He exists for that stuff, but he doesn’t care about you, he never has.  But me I’ll always be there for you, forget him and  come on over to my side, and you’ll never know loneliness again, you’ll be happier than you ever have been,

The man swung around and looked right into Satan’s eyes. “Oh, you are so barking up the wrong tree.  Did you think I was crying because I am sad? No sir I these are tears of happiness.”

“Happiness? What do you have to be happy about.”

“What do I have to be happy about? Well, let’s see, I woke up this morning blessed to see another day on this beautiful planet.  I looked up from my bed, and there was a roof over my head; I went to the kitchen, and there was food in my refrigerator.  I think about the man I have become, and I thank my parents every day for guiding me, putting up with my nonsense, and teaching me how to live my life in a way that I can be proud of.  Most importantly, I know that all this is possible because the Lord, my heavenly father, is looking out over me, I know I can’t do this alone, and I know I don’t have to because He walks with me every second of every day.  You ask me to forsake him? After everything he has done for me? You ask me to look at what I don’t have and ignore all that He has given me> You ask me to believe he is done working on me; after looking out over me from the moment I was birthed.  You ask me to believe he would turn his back to me and forsake him   No I don’t believe I will.  I’ll give it to you this is a nice little racket you have going on here.  It Christmas some people naturally are a little depressed and you prey on those people.  But I have an unwavering faith and that faith makes me too strong to fall for your tricks; you see, the reason for the season is to celebrate the birth of Jesus, the Son of the Lord, the Son who gave his life to atone for the sins of all of my brother and sisters. I will not now nor will I ever forsake the Lord and his Son, so you can take your tricks and false promises and hit the road. You are nothing compared to the Lord.”

Satan looked back at the man and realized he could not compete with the power of the Lord, turned around and started to slink toward the door.

“That’s it? Are we leaving? You’re giving up so easily?” the minion asked.

“Let me tell you something” Satan said “I have been around a long time, and if there is one thing I have learned is that the Lord always has the better hand and when someone looks you right in the eye and calls your bluff…Well, you have to know when to hold them and when to fold them.” And with that, Satan left beaten and battered yet again to the higher power he has yet ever truly to defeat.

You know what being a true Christian is?

Do you know what being a true Christian is? It is never having to announce to the world you are Christian. Many who called themselves Christians feel the need to announce to everyone that they are Christians.

But are they?

Maybe they thought they think they are, but their actions and deeds speak louder than their words. It shows all who are willing to see who they truly are, and it is not a Christian.

A true Christian shows through their actions and deeds that they walk in the steps of the Lord Jesus Christ, that they love their fellow man, that they do not hoard material things at the expense of their fellow man when they are going through a tough time.

With true Christians, no one ever has to ask if they walk the path that Jesus has laid out because it is evident. With those who only speak the words, people have to ask because they cannot see it. No one sees faith when a little rain fell in their lives. No one sees them willingly help their fellow man in need but instead see them turn away.

So how do we deal with those who only speak of knowing the Lord but fail to walk the path the Lord would want them to. I would say we do nothing as we cannot impose true faith on someone, true faith cannot be found in everyone, and it not for us to judge them as it is written in Romans 14:1–13:

14 As for the one who is weak in faith, welcome him, but not to quarrel over opinions. 2 One person believes he may eat anything, while the weak person eats only vegetables. 3 Let not the one who eats despise the one who abstains, and let not the one who abstains pass judgment on the one who eats, for God has welcomed him. 4 Who are you to pass judgment on the servant of another? It is before his own master1 that he stands or falls. And he will be upheld, for the Lord is able to make him stand. 5 One person esteems one day as better than another, while another esteems all days alike. Each one should be fully convinced in his own mind. 6 The one who observes the day, observes it in honor of the Lord. The one who eats, eats in honor of the Lord, since she gives thanks to God, while the one who abstains, abstains in honor of the Lord and gives thanks to God. 7 For none of us lives to himself, and none of us dies to himself. 8 For if we live, we live to the Lord, and if we die, we die to the Lord. So then, whether we live or whether we die, we are the Lord’s. 9 For to this end Christ died and lived again, that he might be Lord both of the dead and of the living. 10 Why do you pass judgment on your brother? Or you, why do you despise your brother? For we will all stand before the judgment seat of God; 11 for it is written, As I live, says the Lord, every knee shall bow to me, and every tongue shall confess2 to God.” 12 So then each of us will give an account of himself to God. Do Not Cause Another to Stumble 13 Therefore let us not pass judgment on one another any longer, but rather decide never to put a stumbling block or hindrance in the way of a brother.

So let us go forward as true Christians walking the path as shining examples to others of what the Lord would want us all to be. For it is through our actions, not words, that we show others the true way to spirituality, and in our actions, others may follow.

They Don’t Really Care About Us

They don’t really care about us.

This statement could be attributed to the attitudes of many so-called American “Christians.” Many of whom have decided, led by Pat Robertson, that God sent our current President to save America. The same President who rose to power by preying on the baseless fears of many and campaigning on a platform of hate, fear, and division.

A President who turns his back on the concept of global unity for a doctrine of America first, a President who appointed an Attorney General in Jeff Sessions who once said: “We are a Christian nation. We should only be accepting Christian refugees.” This is when some twenty-two million people are displaced, and the world is amid the worst refugee crisis since the Second World War. Almost a quarter are refugees from Syrians. Yet each iteration of Trump’s travel ban has sought to block travelers trying to enter the U.S. from Syria and to restrict refugee admissions from the country. In a country whose people are so devastated, Secretary of Defense James Mattis said in May of 2018, “I’ve seen refugees from Asia to Europe, Kosovo to Africa. I’ve never seen refugees as traumatized as coming out of Syria.”

A President who has submitted proposed budgets that hits the poorest Americans the hardest, slashing billions of dollars in food stamps, health insurance, and federal housing subsidies. A budget that would gut the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program, better known as food stamps, by $17.2 billion in 2019 — equivalent to 22 percent of the program’s total cost last year, calls for cuts of more than $213.5 billion over the next decade, a reduction of nearly 30 percent, according to the Center on Budget and Policy Priorities.

A President whose policies are applauded by many of his “Christian” supporters as Making America Great Again.

But Matthew 25:41-46 is clear in saying:

Then he will say to those on his left, ‘Depart from me, you cursed, into the eternal fire prepared for the devil and his angels. For I was hungry, and you gave me no food, I was thirsty, and you gave me no drink, I was a stranger, and you did not welcome me, naked and you did not clothe me, sick and in prison, and you did not visit me.’ Then they also will answer, saying, ‘Lord, when did we see you hungry or thirsty or a stranger or naked or sick or in prison, and did not minister to you?’ Then he will answer them, saying, ‘Truly, I say to you, as you did not do it to one of the least of these, you did not do it to me.’ And these will go away into eternal punishment, but the righteous into eternal life.

This is a resounding answer to the question, “Am I my brother’s keeper?” (Genesis 4:9). The person who helps those in need will inherit the kingdom. The person who fails to do so will be relegated to fiery punishment.

It has always been easy to say to the world I am a Christian. It is not so easy to live your life as a follower of Christ and his teachings.

Are you ready to show through your actions that you can love thy neighbor as thyself” (Matthew 22:39)?

Are you ready to show through your actions that you can feed the hungry, clothe the needy, visit the sick? (Matthew 25)?

Are you ready to show through your actions that you are ready to love your enemies (Luke 6:27)?

Sadly, for many of those who love to brag, America is a Christian country founded on Christianity’s principles; it seems want their religion to be is easy and simple. A religion that affords them a comfortable living with no room for outsiders unless they immediately become like them.

The time has come to choose. Are you a person who simply gives lip service to the teachings of Jesus?

A man who gave his life willingly as he said:

“The Father loves me because I sacrifice my life so I may take it back again. No one can take my life from me. I sacrifice it voluntarily. For I have the authority to lay it down when I want to and to take it up again. For this is what my Father has commanded.” John 10:17-18 NLT

A man who died willing for our sins, to save us and purchase us from death.

Or are you a person who chooses to follow a President that many have turned into a false god?

A President who preaches hate and division.

If you indeed are a follower of the Lord, it shouldn’t be a hard question at all to answer.

Because as a follower of Christ, the world should be saying:

They really do care about us.

Nothing Compares to U Lord

It’s been 12 months and three days

Since I found my way back to U

I used to sin every night and party all day

Without you I could travel the less righteous road

I could care only about myself

I could worship the dollar while in a fancy suit

But nothing

I said

Nothing can save my spirit

Nothing can save my soul,

Nothing can save my heart

Nothing could give me the happiness you could

Cause nothing compares

Nothing compares to U

I was so lost without you in my life

Like a bird without a song

Nothing could stop the tears from falling

Tell me Lord where did I go wrong

I could grab for every dollar I see

I could have every comfort money could buy

But they’d never give me the happiness of knowing U

I went to the doctor guess what he told me

Guess what he told me

He said boy even with all the money in the world there’s nothing we can do for you

but he’s a fool

Cause there’s nothing U can’t do

Cause nothing compares to U

You saved me

You breathed life back into me

I know that following you won’t always easy

I must be willing to sacrifice

I must be willing to forgive

I must be willing to embrace my enemies

I must be willing to serve the poor

I know it will be hard because I know I’m flawed

I know I am not perfect

Yet you still love me

So I’m going to give it my best

‘Cause nothing compares to the love you rain down on me

Cause nothing compares to the blessings you bestow upon me

Cause nothing compares

Nothing compare to U Lord

The First, The Last, My Everything

With a nod to Barry White’s classic You’re The First, The Last, My Everything

You put it together, didn’t You?

You definitely put it together, didn’t you Lord?

Isn’t that nice?

I mean, when you really sit and think about it, isn’t it really, really nice?

Nobody but you and me

You’ve put it together, Lord

The first, my last, my everything

And the answer to everything

You’re my sun, my moon, my guiding star

All kinds of wonderful, that’s what you are

I know there’s only, only one like you

I know you can do all things

No purpose of yours can be thwarted

Lord, you’re all I’m living for

Your plans stand firm

Your love for your children endures forever

I’ll never abandon the works of your hand

You’re the first, you’re the last, my everything

You allowed me to return home

You let me find you

You forgave all my sins

And in you I’ve found so many things

You’re my strongest defender; the one who saved me

My faith is so great I could only give you

I proclaim to all how great you are

You’re bring us all to a new day

I see so many way that I

Will love you till the day I pass out of death into eternal life

You’re all of our realities, yet some of us remain lost

But you still forgive them through Christ

You’re the first, the last, my everything

You and me, Lord

Just you and me

You are the first, the last, my everything

You can tell everybody – He’s the one

Well you can tell everybody
Yeah you can tell everybody
Go ahead and tell everybody
He’s the one, He’s the one , He’s the one
Yes He is, Yes He is, Yes He is.

I believe in Him no matter what life may bring me
Praised him to all who hear my voice
Had my faith tested but never did I fold.

Well it ain’t that hard when you believe
Somewhere I heard that life is a test
I been through the worst but I still give my best
God stands with me through the storms
Then he works it out so I know I’m blessed.

Stand up now and face the sky
Don’t let your troubles consume you
It’s time to do what must be done, come home and praise him
For He is the King of all the earth; Sing praises with a skillful psalm.

Well you can tell everybody
Yeah you can tell everybody
Go ahead and tell everybody
He’s the one, He’s the one , He’s the one
Yes He is, Yes He is, Yes He is.

He’s got all the answers to your questions
He has established His throne in the heavens, And His sovereignty rules over all.
If we confession our sins, he is faithful and just and will forgive us our sins and purify us from all unrighteousness.
For He is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Those who know His name name trust in Him, for He has never forsaken those who seek Him.

He’s the one
Go ahead and tell everybody what I’m saying y’all
He’s the one, He’s the one , He’s the one
Yes He is, Yes He is, Yes He is
