America has no Face – America has many Faces

America has no face.

America has many faces.

How refreshing it was to watch the democratic debate on CNN last night and see so many of faces. White, Black, Latino and Asian; Men and Women; Straight and Gay; Young and Old, Progressives and Moderates.  All vying to be the democratic nominee for President.  Now you can agree or disagree with their politics, but you can’t deny that almost everyone in America could look at that stage and see someone they could personally identify with and that’s what makes America great. We are a country of many different races, ethnicities, beliefs, religions, sexualities, economic levels and social beliefs, an incredible mosaic woven together to form very fabric of America.  It was the founding fathers who imagined this America when declaring independence from British rule proudly stating:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal

At the time it was more of an ideal than something that was practiced, there was still the little issues of slavery and displacing Native Americans from their home land, but it was an ideal never the less of what America could and should be. Today there are still those among us who would have you believe America was at its greatest when segregation was the rule of day, when opportunities for women in the workplace were far and few between, when being gay was meet with societal shame.  That America is no more.  America is changing, some may think not fast-enough, but it is changing. Evolving beyond its past prejudices. We are now the majority, we are the coalition of the righteous. It is why I believe you see individuals who turn a blind eye to alleged corruption by our current President and cling to his mantra of hate and division and a time when as a Americans we were less enlightened time fighting so hard now.  They are afraid of the new America, unwilling to open themselves up to anyone or anything that is different from themselves and what they believe to be right. This is their last stand and they know it, but it is to late momentum is against them, the new America is here, and it is many faces coming together to form one voice and shout:

We hold these truths to be self-evident, that all men are created equal

It is after all the ideal that America was founded on.

A Day of Celebration

Today we celebrate the 90th birthday of the Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King Junior and the 10th anniversary of the inauguration of the first African American President of the United States, Barack Obama. Both of these men exemplified class and dignity. They inspired us to treat each other as brothers and sisters and motivated us to be a better person today than we were yesterday. They represented the promise of what America is supposed to be and it is in acting in their spirit that will Make America Great.

Can You Dig It

I say the future is ours…
…if you can count!
Now, look what we have
here before us.
We’ve got the Muslims…
…sitting next to
the Jews.
We’ve got the Christians …
…right by the Atheists

The Whites up against the Blacks and the heterosexuals back to back with the homosexuals.

Nobody is wasting nobody.

That…
…is a miracle.
And miracles
is the way things ought to be.
You’re standing right now
with nine delegates from every race, nationality religion and sexual orientation
That’s over 7 and a half billion humans.
Now, put that in perspective and you’ll understand there ain’t but a handful of racist, misogynist, intolerant hate filled humans left in this whole world

Can you dig it?
Can you dig it?
Can you dig it?

Now here’s the sum total.
Unity and tolerance could run this world.
We could make it a paradise. Because we got the Earth

Can you dig it?

The problem in the past
has been those committed to hate and division turning us against one another.
We have been unable
to see the truth,
because we’ve been fighting
for 10 square feet of ground,
our turf, our little piece of turf.
That’s crap, brothers and sisters
The turf is ours by right
because it’s our turn.
All we have to do
is see the good in each other
We slowly root out the hate from each corner of the globe
Secure our territory,
secure our turf
because it’s all our turf and this Earth would be a paradise.

Can you dig it.

Power to the people Boogie to the beat

November 6, 2018 we must awaken with a single purpose:

To go to the polls and take government back from the charlatans who profess they have been elected to serve the people when the truth is they serve only themselves and the all mighty dollar.

To go to the polls and remove from the halls of government those who use hate and look to divide us so that they may expand their own power and increase their own wealth.

To go to the polls and restore what democracy truly is – The voice of the people.

On November 6, 2018 we must boogie to the new beat that is rising up in this country.

Racism based on the color of one skin fading away.

Discrimination based on one’s sexual orientation vanishing by the day

Disrespect of women no longer accepted as one of society’s dirty little norms

Bullying someone because they don’t fit neatly into a box that society claims is normal waning as we speak

Division being increasingly replaced by unity

Exclusion being increasingly replaced by inclusion

On November 6 we must rise as a people and boogie to the growing beat, that they are so desperate to shut down, and make America truly Great

Mondays a fresh new canvass

It’s Monday the start of a new week a call to action to embrace new opportunities, to strive to be better today then I was yesterday. I will not be jaded by setbacks from my past.  I will use them as learning experiences and inspiration to overcome any adversity that may come my way moving forward.

Mondays are a fresh new canvass waiting for me to paint my future on.  I will not paint it in black and white rather I will use bold strokes and daring colors. I will not remain within the lines that society says I must instead I will paint outside the lines with the knowledge that nothing is impossible if I dare to dream.

Monday a blank canvass, a new beginning, a chance to seize the possibilities of greatness.

The True Patriot

It is the true patriot who stands
against the slings and arrows in
order to hold their country
accountable rather than turn a blind
eye to injustice. For turning a blind
eye to injustice is in essence a tactical
admission that the country is too
weak to live up to the standards on
which it was founded.

The enemies of progress

It is easy to spot the enemies of progress those who are afraid of change. They are the ones who change the narrative to trick you and look to silence rather than engage in meaningful conversation the voices of dissent.

Stay true to the message and refuse to be silenced. Because only when the masses rise up and in one voice demand change will change take place.
