You can’t always get what you want – but you may find what you need

The Rolling Stones once sang “You can’t always get what you want. But if you try sometime you find you get what you need”. These words could not ringer truer in our live. Many times we doubt our ability to reach our full potential. We shy away from “going for it” either thinking we can’t do it, others telling us we can’t do it or simply a matter of fearing we will fail in trying to do it. This results in lost opportunities not only the opportunity of reaching the goal at the end of the journey but the opportunities that inevitably present them along the way. By not even trying we cheat ourselves of the chance to dream big by taking advantage of the possibilities life presents us. Possibilities we may not have known were out there but offer so much potential once we discover them.

Live for today – Plan for tomorrow

Life is complicated in order to be truly happy we live for today while simultaneously planning for a better tomorrow. Acting on the new and exciting possibilities presented to us each day always with an eye on the future. We understand that those possibilities can be fleeting. If we sit back and don’t act decisively in the here and now we risk squandering them. We also understand that opportunities are seldom random, they come to those who create them. To create them we need to plant the seeds of opportunities through meticulous planning. Doing so today will permit us to enjoy the fruits of our labor tomorrow.

The pursuit of perfection

In life it is possible to meticulously plan and execute something to perfection and still not reach the desired result. Is that a failure? Should we throw our hands up and walk away from future opportunities convinced we simply are not meant to succeed? Of course not. How we deal with failure is as important as how we deal with success. We should strive for perfection with the understanding that the pursuit is just as important as reaching the goal. The pursuit is a chance for us to learn, change and grow molding us into into a better person than we were before it.
