There is nothing more ugly than division and hate for each other with the exception of those who promote it for personal gain. One day they will have to stand before the creator and justify the unjustifiable.
There is nothing more beautiful than unity and compassion for each other. Blessings shall be showered unto those of us who who practice it. For we all God’s children regardless of what we may look like.
The lust for power, greed and corruption has been an intrinsic characteristic of human behavior since seemingly the beginning of our existence and while the majority of us make a conscious decision not to embrace these traits there have always been those among us who do. Therefore it is logical to say that no single individual should be considered above reproach simply because of the group to which they belong.
As citizens it is our moral responsibility to foster an atmosphere that strengthen the capacity of society at large. To point out corruption where it exist and to build transparent and accountable systems of governance so as to ensure that the vulnerable are not take advantage of. This is especially true when the corruption is committed by those who are in power. One would imagine in a society as enlighten as we imagine ourselves to be that this is would be an easy task, but alas it is not. As these individuals in power persuade the masses that to they are on their side. That anyone who doesn’t look or think like them is a threat to them and only they can protect them. They use their affiliation with you to persuade you any attack against them is an attack on you as group. They have a aura of charisma about them that they are able to manipulate some in the media to spreading their message of prejudice and fears to the average citizen so that confronted with evidence of their corruption many who follow them will dismiss the evidence on the grounds that it is an attack on and suggests an implausible degree of corruption with a individual they have been conditioned to respect.
It is fair to question the motive of the individuals who promote this narrative. It is apparent when one examines their talking points more closely that they are not concerned with the good of society but rather simply in increasing their power, wealth and promoting their own agenda. History has shown us that their strategy of divide and conquer has proven to be effective. As President Lyndon Johnson once said
“If you can convince the lowest white man he’s better than the best colored man, he won’t notice you’re picking his pocket. Hell, give him somebody to look down on, and he’ll empty his pockets for you.”
As citizens of America and humanity as a whole we must not allow their noise to cower us into silence. We must remain vigilant and continue to point out with the loudest voice possible corruption at every turn and our demand for justice. For if we do not we doom society as a whole for as Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn wrote:
“In keeping silent about evil, in burying it so deep within us that no sign of it appears on the surface, we are implanting it, and it will rise up a thousand fold in the future. When we neither punish nor reproach evildoers, we are not simply protecting their trivial old age, we are thereby ripping the foundations of justice from beneath new generations
Some of us are republicans some democrats and some independents. Some of us are people of color some of us are not. Some of us are heterosexual some homosexual some bisexual. Some of us Christian some Muslim some Jewish some atheists and a hosts of other beliefs. In the end we are all American and most importantly we are all humans.
In some of us thete is often a fear of the unknown, an irrational fear that leads to isolation. Isolation leads to a lack of knowledge and understanding about those that are different from us and if history has taught us anything it is that a lack of knowledge often leads to disastrous results. It also can lead to the continuous growth of the prejudices we all have with-in us. Those prejudices are stripped away as we begin to understand those who differ from us. However for those who remain isolated those prejudices remain and can be easily stoked by people in power who do so for the goal of advancing their wealth and power. These individuals thrive on chaos and division. They speak non truths and keep the people divided against each other rather than uniting for the betterment of mankind as a whole. They want us to be afraid of each other, they want us to hate each other, they want us to lose our compassion for each other, they want us to build walls to separate us. This strategy allows them to take advantage of us all. As Suzy Kassem wrote
When two brothers are busy fighting, an evil man can easily attack and rob their poor mother.
We must strive as Americans and humans to rise above the evil that seeks to divide us. We must stand together and keep moving forward as a society. We must marginalize those who refuse to embrace diversity. For in unifying one voice into many voices we will be able to change the despair of today into the promise of tomorrow and from that we all will be better.
