So today my horoscope said:
Dealing with the people you care for turns out to be a heavy burden. Spread the word far and wide, for it is time to set yourself free. After all, this kind of dependence ends up taking a serious toll. It’s not your job to carry someone else’s cross.
What a horrible concept. As Christians we believe that the Lord blesses us with His love and the strength to get through the storms that we face. He made the ultimate sacrifice when he gave unto us his son to relieve us our sin. As is written of Jesus in 1 Peter 2:24:
He himself bore our sins” in his body on the cross, so that we might die to sins and live for righteousness; “by his wounds you have been healed.”
Knowing this how could we not pay His blessings forward to our fellow man. When the burden they are facing becomes too much for them to carry alone should we not lift them up? Would we not want someone to help steady us when we are staining under the weight of our earthly troubles? Should we not we not help each other strengthen our faith when it waivers so we are reminded the Lord is working to relieve us of their angst? Have we forgotten that we are all children of the Lord and He never gives us more than we can bear and maybe it is through the compassion we show each other in difficult times that He is lessening our load? Do we not believe that He will look down upon us favorably and bless us ten fold for showing compassion to others? Remember it is not only the righteous thing to do but we are commanded to do it in Galatians 6:2:
Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ
Remember as humans none of us is immune to troubles. Psalms 34:18 tells us:
Many are the afflictions of the righteous, but the Lord delivers him out of them all
How weak and selfish are we if we are to expect the Lord to carry our burdens and believe it is not our responsibility to provide comfort and aid to others. That we look at our assistance to others as a burden to ourselves and allow them to continue to struggle, crushed under the weight of their troubles.
