Tell Me Again

Tell me again,

You didn’t believe in me?

Didn’t think I had it in me?

Never believed I would succeed?

That’s funny.

I mean, couldn’t you see that I am unique?

That my spirit is indomitable.

That I have an unwavering belief in myself.

That greatness was always a part of me?

Were you jealous because the moment you saw me, you knew I didn’t walk, I didn’t run, and I would never get caught in the rain because I soared above the clouds?

Didn’t you see you could never take my happiness from me?

That your opinion of me never mattered.

Every step I take confirms who I am.

I waste not one day.

I am not a passenger of destiny.

I take hold of my future, motivated to be better tomorrow than I am today.

I have never regretted taking a chance.

Because my failures do not define

me, instead, I am respected for my resolve because failure did not break me.

I embrace the journey and keep moving forward.

My dreams do not end when I wake; they begin.

So tell me again, you didn’t believe in me?

Funny.

Dirty Diana…She’s Out Of My Life

You did me, DIRTY DIANA, you came into my life and stole my heart like a SMOOTH CRIMINAL. I REMEMBER THE TIME when we first met and thinking to myself, oh my goodness, she is a PRETTY YOUNG THING. You quickly became ANOTHER PART OF ME; you were quite the THRILLER, but then out of nowhere, you WERE GONE TOO SOON, and all I could do was SCREAM. My friends try to comfort me; they say they are here for me. YOU ARE NOT ALONE, they say. But the truth is I JUST CAN’T STOP LOVING YOU and THE WAY YOU MAKE ME FEEL. Part of me wishes for just ONE MORE CHANCE, but I know life is never that BLACK OR WHITE; these types of breakups happen; I guess it’s only HUMAN NATURE. So, while I may feel BAD, I know I must move on and accept what I don’t want to, that SHE’S OUT OF MY LIFE.

Empathy where none was given

SSo I’ve tuned into FOX today and saw how incredulous they were that not everyone showed empathy to Trump.

Let’s be clear. I hope Trump recovers from this horrible virus. Still, this is a man who has spent his entire life mocking people and showing a lack of empathy for anyone or anything that does not benefit him, including the 200,000 Americans who have lost their lives to COVID. Now FOX and others on the right want everyone to forget all of that and light a candle for him.

HMMM? The fortunate thing is that many of us on this side of the aisle are willing to wish him well, even knowing that he will return to being the morally bankrupt human he has always been when he recovers.

Those on the right should remember that it can be logically argued that empathy is not deserved for those who make the conscious decision to ignore the wrongdoings committed against segments of society and who look to mock the suffering of others for their gain. They do not deserve the sympathy, time, or resources of those they have committed wrongdoings against when they are inevitably impacted by the same wrongs they chose to ignore.

Fortunately for them, though they will often find that those who have been wronged often have the biggest of hearts and are willing to forgive; they put aside their differences and rush to help those who have turned a blind eye to their suffering.

Unfortunately, we also often find that when those who have been rescued feel safe again, they revert to the character that defines their flawed nature and once again mock and remain silent in the face of the injustices perpetrated on the very people who rescued them.

As Mr. Spock would say, it is not logical, but it is often true.

JUST ASKING

I’m praying for everyone’s recovery; like them or not, they have families, and I don’t wish this horrible virus on anyone but just wondering if this administration should be consistent. Remember when Trump tweeted this

“Why should the people and taxpayers of America be bailing out poorly run states (like “Illinois, as an example) and cities, in all cases Democrat-run and managed, when most of the other states are not looking for bailout help? I am open to discussing anything, but just asking?”

So I ask Why should the people and taxpayers of America pay the medical cost for the President, people in his administration and politicians who made consciously poor decisions to mislead Americans about the risks associated with COVID, refused to wear masks and socially distance, in all cases Republicans, when hundreds of thousands who were affected by COVID in one way or another are suffering financially are not being afforded real financial relief? I am open to being told why, but just asking?
